The Times, They Be A-Changin’...
We have tried to give a
heads-up on how this hobby is changing.
By the nature of some calls we’ve received lately, the message isn’t getting across. We value
the relationship with our customers and suppliers and we are saddened by the current trend
in product production. The days of full shelves of rolling stock, engines, structures and
other items you love to find in a hobby shop are ending.
The economy plus the current business model of manufacturers has brought us to the era of instant
products. In most cases, the product is announced, must be pre-ordered within a one-to-four
week period, is delivered within a three-to-nine month period, and then discontinued. The
variations are usually road numbers or color schemes. If we guess wrong on the popularity
of an item, we are stuck with it for a long time. We can’t afford to do that, so we order minimal
extras.
What we list on these pages are items the distributors say they have. They are often wrong.
In their defense, particular items that are popular can come and go very quickly. Something
available at noon can be gone by five.
Bottom line— if you want it that badly, reserve it. Even if we list it, we may not have it or
be able to get it. Don’t count on us simply ordering it because you think it’s a homerun.
Even if it is, your buddy has already bought the last one.
Call the store (215) 412-7711 to reserve items you see in ads or manufacturer’s websites.
Thanks for your understanding — we don’t want you to be disappointed.
